BEAUFORT: The PR1MA Residensi Woodford Estate Residents Association has urged the State Local Government and Housing Ministry to intervene and resolve problems faced by house buyers there.
Its Chairman Suhimi Nain, said many buyers have been facing issues since occupying their homes two years ago.
He said the problems persist as common property has yet to be handed over to the relevant agencies and departments due to unresolved technical matters.
“For example, the community hall and surau are affected by soil settlement issues, causing some building structures to sink. The same problem has also impacted homes in Lorong 6, 7 and 8, while the hall faces additional technical wiring issues,” he said.
Suhimi said many houses continue to suffer recurring defects such as cracked walls caused by soil movement.
“PR1MA refuses to repair them, citing the expiry of the Defect Liability Period (DLP), even though reports were lodged before the DLP ended and no action has been taken to this day.
“Underground pipe leaks and cable faults have also worsened soil settlement, leaving cracks in house walls. Some areas remain waterlogged despite levelling works, leading to flash floods during heavy rain,” he said.
Residents also questioned whether soil tests were ever carried out prior to construction, but received no answer despite raising the matter with PR1MA twice.
“The railway access remains unsafe, incomplete, and damaged roads have not been repaired,” Suhimi said, noting that residents have brought the issue to the Housing Tribunal under the State Ministry and the Beaufort District Council, but PR1MA appears “untouchable.
