SIPITANG: The villagers in Kampung Menengah, here, have appealed to the relevant parties to rebuild their public hall.
Nordin Ismail, one of the villagers said the existing public hall had not been managed for a long time.
“The public hall is much needed as villagers can use it as a venue for meetings, gatherings or any activities… as such, leaders should be more attentive to the needs of the people,” he said.
The hall is located near the township and its condition is an eyesore, especially for visitors travelling from Sarawak or Brunei Darussalam.
“Its deplorable state can clearly be seen as it is situated at the end of Sipitang bridge – a route used by visitors from Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam.
“A new hall should be built as the villagers are sad looking at its current condition.
“We hope the new government would rebuild the public hall for the comfort of the villagers here.”
He added, it would be impossible for the villagers to use the bigger Sipitang Community Hall for gatherings.
Furthermore, he said, they need to pay rental fees if they want to use the hall.
“To this end, we hope Sipitang MP Yamani Hafez Musa who is also Federal Deputy Finance Minister can provide allocations for a new public hall to be built,” he said.
