LABUAN: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 2,100 litres of diesel at an unregistered storage facility in Kampung Lajau, here, Wednesday.
KPDN Labuan Director Junaidah Arbain said enforcement officers found three IBC tanks containing diesel, with a total estimated value of RM12,600, during a raid around noon.
“Further inspection revealed the owner of the storage facility, a 62-year-old man, failed to produce a scheduled controlled goods permit.
“All related items were subsequently seized for further investigation under the Supply Control Act 1961 [Act 122],” he said.
He said an individual, if convicted, may be fined up to RM1 million for a first offence and up to RM3 million for subsequent offences, or face imprisonment, or both.
For companies, fines of up to RM2 million may be imposed for a first offence and up to RM5 million for subsequent offences, subject to the provisions of the applicable law.
Junaidah said the operation was carried out under Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated), reflecting the Government’s ongoing commitment in combating misappropriation of controlled goods and the leakage of subsidised commodities.
Members of the public with information regarding any suspicious activities involving controlled and subsidised goods are urged to channel information through KPDN’s official reporting channels to enable immediate enforcement action.
