Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Builders Association (SBA) has called on industry players to strengthen collaboration, embrace innovation and adopt sustainable practices to remain competitive amid growing challenges.
Its President, Paul Luk, said emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), would play an important role in improving productivity and enhancing the competitiveness of the construction sector.
Speaking at the SBA’s 71st anniversary dinner, he said the association had grown into a strong and respected voice for Sabah’s construction industry over the past seven decades.
He attributed the achievement to the dedication, resilience and support of members, both past and present, who have contributed significantly to the development of the industry and the state’s progress.
Luk said the anniversary theme, “71 Years of Strength, Unity and a Better Tomorrow”, reflected the importance of solidarity within the industry.
“As we move forward, we must continue to strengthen collaboration among all stakeholders while embracing innovation and sustainable practices,” he said.
He noted that the industry continues to face challenges, including rising costs, manpower shortages and regulatory complexities.
Luk said the SBA would continue engaging with relevant authorities and stakeholders to advocate for a more conducive and sustainable business environment.
He also called on members to reaffirm their commitment to unity, professionalism and excellence in building a stronger future for Sabah.
Luk expressed appreciation to organising chairman Lenior Lee Fei Han and the organising committee for their efforts in making the anniversary celebration a success.
He also thanked Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, sponsors, partners and stakeholders for their continued support.
