Kota Kinabalu: The wife of the Chief Minister Datin Seri Datuk Juliah Salag, who is also Mutiara GRS President, led the Mutiara GRS Charity Visit Programme to three welfare and community centres around the State Capital as a gesture of care and concern for the underprivileged and individuals with special needs.

The programme, organised by the Mutiara GRS Welfare Bureau, involved visits to the Sabah Autism Centre and Special Needs Children’s Education Centre in Sembulan, the Malaysian Children’s Hospice Kota Kinabalu (MCH KK) in Taman Bunga Raja and the Sabah Cancer Volunteers Association (PSKS) in Taman Kingfisher.

During the programme, Juliah presented a Mutiara GRS contribution of RM2,000 to each of the centres, in addition to donations of goods and equipment sponsored by the Azam Jaya Foundation as a show of support for the welfare efforts and services provided by the institutions.

Juliah and the Mutiara GRS delegation began their visit at the Sabah Autism Centre and Special Needs Children’s Education Centre in Sembulan before proceeding to MCH KK, which provides care and support for children requiring palliative treatment.

The delegation then continued to PSKS, which has long been active in assisting cancer patients and their families through various support programmes and accommodation facilities managed by the association.

Juliah said the programme reflected Mutiara GRS’s ongoing commitment to reaching out to communities regardless of background, particularly those in need of moral support and welfare assistance.

She said besides delivering contributions, the visits also provided an opportunity for Mutiara GRS members to engage directly with the community, understand the challenges faced by welfare centre management and promote volunteerism and compassion within society.

“Programmes such as this are not only aimed at providing assistance, but also at conveying the message that they are not alone and will always receive attention and support from the community,” she said.
