SEMPORNA: A total of 308 boxes of flour weighing 3,129.80kg, 34 sacks of flour weighing 850kg and 1,128kg of sugar were seized in Ops Tiris 4.0 (Integrated) in town, here, on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Semporna said the seizure was made by Battalion 22 of the General Operations Force (GOF) in Kunak before being handed over to the Ministry.
The items, worth an estimated RM13,137.28, were stored inside a premises without a permit.
A local man was detained to assist in investigations under the Control of Supply Act 1961.
KPDN Semporna warned that individuals or companies must comply with all rules and regulations to avoid legal consequences.
Under Act 122, individuals may face fines of up to RM1 million for a first offence and up to RM3 million or imprisonment for not more than three years, or both, for subsequent offences.
Companies may be fined up to RM2 million for a first offence and up to RM5 million for subsequent offences upon conviction.
