KOTA KINABALU: Women should emulate accomplished female icons to build a more confident and competitive generation, said Sabah Women’s Association president Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun.
She said women play vital roles as mothers, leaders, entrepreneurs and community drivers, and should continuously improve themselves while supporting one another.
“Women must strive to be resilient and capable in every role, while uplifting each other to create greater impact,” she said.
Azizah cited the late entertainer Saloma as an example of an all-rounded icon, highlighting her talent, dedication, humility and strong family values.
She was speaking at the Glamorous Saloma Night held in conjunction with Mother’s Day 2026, organised by the Sabah Women’s Association’s Cultural and Social Bureau.
Azizah said the event not only celebrated mothers but also strengthened bonds among women from diverse backgrounds.
She also commended the association’s continued efforts in advancing women’s development and welfare, stressing that strong collaboration among women’s groups is key to empowering women across Sabah.
“Women are the backbone of families and a vital asset to the state and nation’s progress,” she added.
