BEAUFORT: Police arrested two local men in separate drug-related operations in the district, with one testing positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.
Beaufort District Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh said the first arrest was made by the Membakut Police Station team at a house in Kg Binsulok, Membakut.
The 43-year-old suspect was taken to the Beaufort District Police Headquarters Narcotics Office, where a urine test returned positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.
He is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Following the arrest, police are continuing operations to track down suspected drug dealers in the Kuala Penyu and Menumbok areas based on information obtained from the suspect.
In a separate case, a 31-year-old man was arrested by the roadside in Old Beaufort Town for alleged possession of syabu.
A packet containing about 0.16 grammes of the drug was found in his possession during inspection.
The suspect has been placed in custody and is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police said enforcement efforts will continue to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the district.
