Woman, 72, dies in Papar blaze
A firefighter battling the flames that led to the death of a 72-year-old woman.
PAPAR: A 72 year old woman died after a two storey semi permanent house caught fire at Kampung Seri Tanjung, Pengalat Kecil, Friday morning.

According to Sabah Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, a team of seven personnel led by Senior Officer Dahlan Jainudin rushed to the scene after receiving a distressed call at 6.29am and arrived the scene at 6.35am that was located 4km from the fire station.

Upon arrival, he said the team immediately carried out operation to control the situation despite the flames had engulfed 90 per cent of the structure.

He said the team later found an unconscious elderly woman in the bathroom area at 7.57am and was later pronounced dead at the scene by medical officer believed to be due to breathing difficulties during the fire.
