TAWAU: The passing of Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin at 53 is a major loss to the Royal Malaysia Police, particularly the Sabah contingent, as he was a highly dedicated and outstanding police officer.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the late Jasmin was among senior officers being seriously considered for promotion to Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) and take on a higher leadership role.

“He was an officer with great potential to advance further in his career and was among the district police chiefs being considered for a senior position. However, we must accept that Allah loves him more,” he said.
Jauteh said this when met at Jasmin’s family home in Kampung Sungai Gading Wakuba, Batu 17, Jalan Apas, on Wednesday, after paying his last respects.
Jasmin was pronounced dead at about 2am on Wednesday after being taken to Tawau Hospital for treatment.
He was reportedly found unconscious while resting after extinguish a fire in the second-floor living room of his house in Taman Crystal.
He also expressed appreciation to the Tawau community for their assistance and cooperation throughout the funeral arrangements.
According to Jauteh, the welfare of Jasmin’s family remains a priority, with financial assistance and other forms of support to be channelled through PDRM’s death benefit and welfare funds.
“We hope the family will remain strong and accept this as a test from Allah SWT, facing this difficult period with patience,” he said.
On the cause of death, Jauteh said police are still awaiting the full post-mortem report from Tawau Hospital.
