PAPAR: A workers’ quarters comprising a six-door non-permanent housing block was completely destroyed in a fire at Kampung Ambawa Kelatuan, recently.
Acting Papar Fire and Rescue Station Chief Danny Boy Cornelio said the incident on Saturday, saying that an emergency call was received at about 8.35pm.

Upon receiving the distress call, a team of eight firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene, located approximately 18 kilometres from the station, together with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.
“The Fire and Rescue Department carried out extinguishing operations using one 300-foot hose line with two nozzles, with water supplied from the fire engine,” he said.
No casualties were reported in the incident. However, the cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
