TAWAU: The search for a woman reported missing since Sunday ended on a tragic note when her body was found in a pond near Sin On, Jalan Tiku, here, Monday.

(pic), in her 30s, who resided in Log Pond, Tanjung Batu Laut, had been reported missing by her family after she was last seen in the Sin On area.

Information regarding her disappearance went viral on social media platforms, drawing widespread public attention and sympathy. Several individuals had volunteered to assist in the search efforts.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin, when contacted by Daily Express, confirmed the discovery and said the victim’s identity was verified by her family members at Tawau Hospital.
“Upon receiving information, a team of officers and personnel from the Tawau police station and the District Criminal Investigation Division (BSJD) was deployed to the scene.
“Police found the woman’s body in a pond within an oil palm plantation area,” he said, Monday.
Jasmin said preliminary investigations found no indications of recent external injuries on the victim’s body and no elements of foul play had been detected.
“As such, the case has, for the time being, been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR). However, further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death,” he said.
He also urged the public not to engage in speculation and to come forward with any relevant information by contacting the Tawau District Police Headquarters (IPD) or the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
