Kota Kinabalu: The Madani Government remains committed to strengthening Sabah’s development agenda through comprehensive, inclusive and high-impact initiatives aimed at improving the people’s well-being and enhancing basic infrastructure across the state, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud (

He said 39 development projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) Rolling Plan 1 (RP1) had been identified for the Sandakan area, involving a total allocation of RM2.17 billion covering sectors such as road infrastructure, water supply, education, security and environmental conservation.
Mustapha said RM213.32 million had been allocated for 2026 to finance the implementation of the projects, with 26 projects currently under implementation, 12 in the post-implementation phase and one fully completed.
Among the high-impact projects being implemented are the construction of the Semawang to Tanjung Kuala Gum-Gum Road, the Sandakan Sewerage Treatment Plant project, the construction of Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) and the Mawilla 2 Jetty, as well as the upgrading of the Sandakan water supply system.
He said most of the projects were progressing according to schedule and reflected the Government’s commitment to ensuring all planned projects are implemented effectively, transparently and in a manner that delivers direct benefits to the people in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani.
