KENINGAU: The Women’s Sports Programme in conjunction with the Mother’s Day celebration held at the Dangulad Multipurpose Hall here recently fostered the spirit of neighbourhood and a healthy lifestyle among mothers.

The programme organised by the Women’s Neighbourhood Association (KRT) Dangulad in collaboration with Tupperware brought together local women in various leisure and community activities, including a Zumba session which took place in a cheerful and energetic atmosphere.

The bond and unity continued to be strengthened among the community here when the wife of the Bingkor Assemblyman, Datin Tengku Aini Tengku Ibrahim, took time to participate in the event.

Tengku Aini said that such programmes were not only able to promote healthy living practices among the community, but were also the best medium to strengthen friendships and neighbourhood spirit at the grassroots level.

She also expressed her appreciation to the organisers for their efforts in organising the programme which was described as successful in uniting the community through a relaxed but beneficial approach.

“Programmes like this should be continued and expanded to other neighbourhoods because they are able to build closer community relations through healthy and positive activities,” she said.

Earlier, the atmosphere of the programme became more lively when the participants together with Tengku Aini took part in a Zumba exercise session and sports activities held specifically in conjunction with this year’s Mother’s Day celebration.

The programme is also seen as a platform to strengthen relationships between women in the local community while fostering an active lifestyle culture among the rural community.

Mother’s Day is vital to the community because it fosters gratitude, reinforces family bonds, and recognises the immense, often unpaid, contributions of women to society’s stability.

It acts as a unifying occasion that honours maternal figures, supports emotional health, and highlights the need for a supportive environment for families.

Key aspects of importance in the community include appreciation of sacrifices. It serves as an essential platform to recognise the love, care, and immense sacrifices mothers make for their children and families.

Celebrating Mother’s Day also acts to strengthen family bonds. The day fosters stronger family connections and promotes togetherness within the community.

Apart from that, it also gives the place and space to honouring community pillars, where mothers are recognised as the “backbone of families,” serving as nurturers, caregivers and first teachers who shape future generations.

This celebration also gives a sense of cultural significance and unity. It is often celebrated across the globe, uniting people in the shared acknowledgement of the profound impact of maternal love.

In other words, Mother’s Day promotes empowerment by recognising the role of mothers and highlights the need to empower women and ensure they have the resources needed to raise healthy and happy families.

It also gives the women opportunity to take part in a time for reflection, whereby, beyond gifts, it offers a moment to reflect on the influence of mothers and maternal figures on individual lives and society.
