TAWAU: Despite the changing times, Sabah Umno remains steadfast in continuing its struggle and commitment to defending the Institution of the Sabah Head of State (TYT) as a symbol of the people’s unity, state stability and the continuity of the constitutional democratic system.
Sabah Umno Liaison Secretary Samasuddin Yusop said the TYT Institution is not merely an official symbol of state administration, but an institution that must be respected and preserved by all Sabahans, regardless of race, religion or political affiliation.

“Rooted in the spirit of ‘United, Loyal, Service’, Sabah Umno is determined to further strengthen the struggle to defend the TYT institution, preserve state stability and ensure that the welfare of the people always remains a priority.
“Sabah Umno stands firm in defending the sanctity of the TYT institution to ensure that the harmony and stability of the State remain guaranteed,” he said when commenting on Umno’s 80th anniversary here, Monday.
Samasuddin, who is also Kalabakan Umno Division Chief, emphasised that Sabah Umno’s commitment and resolve are aligned with central Umno, which views political stability as an essential foundation for state progress and the wellbeing of the people.
Moreover, since its establishment on May 11, 1946, he said Umno had consistently prioritised its fundamental struggle to defend the dignity of the race, the sovereignty of the homeland, Bumiputera rights and the sanctity of the Institution of the Malay Rulers, which serves as the backbone of national stability to this day.
Touching on related matters, he said that the stability of the Sabah Unity Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister must also continue to be preserved to ensure that the development agenda and the interests of the people can be implemented continuously.
“At the same time, we always uphold the spirit of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) as the basis of Malaysia’s formation and remain committed to defending the rights and interests of the people of Sabah, including Bumiputera rights, in a fair and prudent manner,” he said.
Commenting further, he believes that Umno’s 80-year journey proves that the political organisation possesses long-standing experience, filled with a history of struggle, sacrifice, and service to religion, race and country.
“In conjunction with this 80th Umno anniversary celebration, Sabah Umno records its appreciation to all members, veteran fighters, grassroots machinery and the people who have continued to support the party’s struggle from the beginning until today,” he added.
