KOTA KINABALU: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) called on the government to strengthen monitoring of contractors responsible for maintaining streetlights in Kota Kinabalu, following growing concerns over the worsening condition of public lighting infrastructure in the city.
LDP Vice-President David Ong Choon Chung expressed concern that several major roads in Sabah’s capital are currently poorly illuminated or entirely dark at night due to a high number of malfunctioning streetlights.
He also pointed out that multiple lamp posts appear to be structurally compromised, including cases of tilting or physical damage, which he said have remained unattended for extended periods.
