Tenom: Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairmen in the Melalap State constituency have been reminded to serve all residents fairly regardless of political affiliation.
State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar said grassroots leaders must carry out their responsibilities with transparency, fairness and inclusiveness to ensure the welfare of villagers is safeguarded.

“I have entrusted JKKK chairmen not to label villagers based on party affiliation or support for any side because today we work for all the people of Melalap,” he told reporters after presenting 82 appointment letters to JKKK chairmen for the Melalap constituency, recently.
Jamawi, who is also Melalap Assemblyman, stressed that an inclusive approach is important in strengthening unity and harmony within the community while ensuring assistance and information reach all residents equally.
He also urged all JKKK chairmen to uphold integrity and foster a strong spirit of togetherness in carrying out their duties for the wellbeing of the people.
According to him, efforts to strengthen grassroots administration in the constituency would continue through appointments involving the Native Court, Native Chiefs (Ketua Anak Negeri), Assistant Native Chiefs (Wakil Ketua Anak Negeri) and village heads.
Jamawi added that the Melalap Assemblyman’s service centre would conduct visits to every mukim in the constituency to better understand local development needs and improve service delivery.
“Strong grassroots administration is essential to ensure development reaches the people effectively and fairly,” he said.
