Kota Kinabalu: A photography exhibition featuring portraits of 13 palliative care patients has opened at the Ultramarine, Sutera Bay, inviting visitors to look past assumptions and see the full dignity of those nearing the end of life.

Shot by photographer Henry Liew and curated by Ultramarine’s Jeremy Wong and Melanie Chin, in collaboration with the Kota Kinabalu Palliative Care Association (PCAKK), a portion of the exhibition’s admission fee will go to the association to support its home care programme for the terminally ill.

“The exhibition, ‘Still Here: Portraits of Presence’, is built on the premise that every life continues to hold presence, meaning and dignity in ways that are frequently overlooked,” said Henry when met at the exhibition’s launching ceremony, Thursday.

“The project began after Jeremy and Melanie approached me and we agreed that partnering with the PCAKK would give the work purpose,” he said.
