Keningau man settles RM30,000 offensive Facebook post fine
KENINGAU: A 41-year-old man was fined RM30,000 by the Sessions Court here after pleading guilty to posting offensive communication on Facebook.

Mohamad Azri Sahlam admitted to using the account “Azri Ale” to upload a derogatory statement on 22 Dec 2025 in Kg Menampung, Apin-Apin, Keningau, which was later detected by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

He was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for knowingly transmitting offensive content with intent to annoy others.

Failure to pay the fine would have resulted in six months’ jail, but he settled the payment on the same day.
