Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Entrepreneurs Carnival for the Tenom Zone recorded total cash sales exceeding RM259,000, achieving its objective of empowering local entrepreneurs and stimulating the local economy.
Deputy Chief Minister and State Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Ewon Benedick said the carnival demonstrated the continued role of the MSME sector as a key driver of grassroots economic growth, particularly in rural areas.
He said the State Government would continue strengthening MSME development through entrepreneurial initiatives, marketing platforms and continuous support to help local entrepreneurs become more competitive and expand their product markets.
Ewon said more than 10,000 visitors attended the three-day carnival from May 1 to 3, with the highest turnout recorded on the final day.
He said 99 sales booths participated in the carnival, involving 36 small and medium industry entrepreneurs and 63 hawkers and small traders, with total sales of RM259,560.77 recorded, including RM60,020.77 by DIDR entrepreneurs and RM199,540 by hawkers and small traders.
