KOTA BELUD: A man believed to be experiencing emotional distress was safely rescued after climbing onto the second level of a telecommunications tower in Taman Nikmat here on Thursday.
The incident was reported to the Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station at 9.37am, prompting the deployment of 12 personnel to the scene located about four kilometres away.
The Fire and Rescue Department said firefighters, together with police personnel, carried out efforts to calm and persuade the man to ensure the situation remained under control and the victim could be rescued safely.
As a precautionary measure against any unexpected actions, the rescue team also installed a safety net at the location during the operation.
The man was later brought down safely from the tower and handed over to the police for further action before the operation ended at 12.50pm.
