KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia has not experienced any food shortage despite global supply chain disruptions from the West Asian conflict, Deputy Minister Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia Datuk Chan Foong Hin said.
He noted possible temporary disruptions, particularly along key routes, but said supplies remain stable.
The government is prioritising supply, distribution and price control, with RM7 billion spent on fuel subsidies and continued aid through Rahmah initiatives.
Support for agriculture has been strengthened to stabilise production, while Sabah is advancing key food projects and urban farming efforts. Chan assured that rice supply remains sufficient.
Meanwhile, SIFEX 2026 drew over 15,000 visitors and expanded to more than 400 booths, highlighting Sabah’s growing role as an expo tourism hub.
