KENINGAU: A 44-year-old man was killed in a collision involving a car and a three-tonne lorry along Jalan Keningau-Tenom near Kampung Kitung on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Jinus Anang, was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining severe chest injuries in the 4.15pm incident.
Police received information on the accident through the Keningau district police headquarters (IPD) operations room before officers rushed to the scene.
District Police Chief Supt Yampil Anak Garai said initial investigations found that the lorry, driven by a 37-year-old man with an attendant, was travelling from Tenom towards Keningau.
Upon reaching a straight downhill stretch, the Perodua Kenari driven by the victim, which was coming from the opposite direction, is believed to have entered the lorry’s lane.
Both vehicles were unable to avoid each other and collided head-on, causing severe damage to the front sections.
