Kota Kinabalu: A policeman was acquitted of a charge of possessing 0.24g of syabu without his defence being called.
Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Corporal Sazaly Sahaji, 45.
Sazaly was alleged to have been in possession of the drug at the parking area of the Inanam police quarters on July 29, 2024.
He was charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a fine of up to RM100,000, imprisonment of up to five years, or both upon conviction.
The prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Arfa Anchal Khan, called six witnesses, while Sazaly was represented by counsel Mohamad Syazwan Shah, Nigel Neong Kaning and Hannan Razaini.
