Syabu: Foreigner jailed nine years, 10 lashes
The offence under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.
SANDAKAN: A 35-year-old Indonesian was jailed nine years and ordered to get 10 strokes of the cane for possessing 52.4 grams of syabu.

Sessions Court Judge Roslinda Razali imposed the sentence after Rudi, 35, admitted to the offence upon the charge being read to him.

Rudi was found having the drug at 1am on Jan 14, this year at an open hut in a private rubber plantation area in Kampung Tangkarason, Paitan.

In another case, a 28-year-old man was fined RM3,800 or six months’ jail for obstructing a public servant to perform duty.

Mohd Syafiq Nasrun, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Nur Faezah Jafry, to intentionally obstructing policemen from carrying out their duties during a roadblock conducted at Bandar Indah, here at 4.55pm on April 3, this year.

Mohd Syafiq paid the fine.

DPP Ong Teik Yi prosecuted the case.
