PETALING JAYA: A social media user revealed a vehicle in Petaling Jaya had accumulated more than RM20,000 in unpaid parking compounds, drawing attention online.
Images from the city council app showed an outstanding total of RM20,710 under its “Scan and Pay Compound” system, with most fines issued for failing to pay for parking within designated bays. Individual compounds were typically RM70 each.
Records indicated the offences dated back to November 2022, suggesting the amount built up over time.
The post sparked humour among netizens, with one remarking: “Is this a compound or a salary?”, while highlighting how small municipal fines can snowball when ignored.
