LAHAD DATU: An eight-year-old boy was rescued from a locked car at Jalan Reno Fajar, here, on Monday.

District Fire and Rescue Department Chief Sumsoa Rashid said his department received a distress call following the incident at 7.28pm.

Six Fire and Rescue personnel rushed to the scene and, upon arrival at 7.35pm, discovered that a child was locked inside a vehicle.

“The team immediately opened the vehicle’s door using special tools and rescued the boy who was found safe and handed over to his mother at the scene,” he said.

The operation was carried out with assistance from the police.

The operation ended at 7.43pm after the team carried out inspections to ensure there was no other danger at the scene.
