Illegal jailed for car window damage
The offence, under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carries imprisonment of one to five years, a fine, or both.
Kota Kinabalu: An illegal immigrant was jailed 16 months by the Magistrate’s Court here for committing mischief by damaging a car window.

Rian Norlari pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to committing mischief on March 18 at 12.30am on a roadside in Kg Numbak, Manggatal.

He damaged a Perodua Axia belonging to Md Azman Absarun, causing RM60 in losses.

The offence, under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carries imprisonment of one to five years, a fine, or both.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Yusdi Basri stated that the car owner’s friend reported seeing Rian breaking the window. Rian was arrested with villagers’ help.

Unrepresented, Rian requested to be deported as soon as possible. The court ordered him to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest and be referred to the Immigration Department thereafter.

In a separate case, an unemployed man, Roslan Abdullana, 28, was fined RM1,400 or three months’ jail for possessing a stolen wall fan belonging to Isam Lani. 

He pleaded guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to the charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code.
