TAWAU: Police arrested a man who was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine while riding a motorcycle that was reported missing during a crime prevention patrol at Lorong Muhibbah Bal, Jalan Kuhara, on Monday.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the 20-year-old local suspect was detained by a strike team from Tawau Police Station at 3.30am.

“When police officers attempted to stop the suspect for inspection, he tried to flee but was successfully apprehended after officers used minimal force,” he said.
He added that a body search on the suspect did not uncover any illegal items. However, further inspection of a sling bag he was carrying led to the discovery of a transparent plastic packet containing crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine (syabu).
Jasmin said checks on the motorcycle, a black Yamaha 135LC ridden by the suspect, revealed that it was using a fake registration number and had been reported missing on Saturday (4 April).
Additionally, he said background checks also found the suspect had prior criminal records related to housebreaking cases.
