PAPAR: A swift response by the Fire and Rescue Department saved more than 20,000 litres of diesel from being destroyed at a storage facility in Mile 30, Kimanis, on Thursday.
A team of eight firefighters was deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 6.20pm.
The facility housed six diesel storage tanks with a maximum capacity of 18,000 litres each, with three tanks filled with fuel while the remaining three were empty.
Firefighters brought the situation under control, saving two tanks containing 18,000 and 10,000 litres of diesel, while a third tank holding 1,000 litres was severely damaged.
