Kota Kinabalu: A 47-year-old trader, Nurdin Konding, pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here to a charge of assaulting his wife.
Nurdin claimed trial before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to causing hurt to his 44-year-old wife at the roadside of KKIP Selatan Industrial Park at 12.30pm on Feb 24.

The charge was framed under Section 323 of the Penal Code read together with Section 326A of the same Code.
Section 323 provides for a jail term of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both, while Section 326A allows for a sentence of up to twice the maximum term upon conviction.
The court fixed April 6 for mention and ordered Nurdin to be further remanded.
Meanwhile, an undocumented 33-year-old man, Jamal, was jailed six months for retaining a stolen vehicle. Jamal pleaded guilty to retaining a stolen Perodua Kancil belonging to Md Yunus Azhar at the rear entrance road of SMK Bandaraya, Manggatal, at 5.30am on Feb 25.
The charge, under Section 411 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of between six months and five years and is also liable to a fine upon conviction.
The prosecution stated that the complainant discovered his Perodua Kancil missing from a parking area at University Apartment Phase 1, Jalan UMS, at 3.30am the same day.
Acting on the report, police arrested Jamal at 5.30am near the rear entrance of SMK Bandaraya and recovered the vehicle along with its key.
Jamal and the seized items were later brought to the police station for further action. The court ordered that Jamal be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence.
