SIPITANG: Sindumin Assemblyman Yusri Pungut urged the Department of Irrigation and Drainage to take swift action in addressing the growing erosion threatening several villages in his constituency.
Following his visit to the affected areas, including Kampung Kawang Tali Air, Kampung Tanjung Nipis, Kampung Luagan, and Kampung Siputol in Pekan Sindumin, Yusri said he had received complaints about drainage issues in Kampung Ranau-Ranau that needed the attention of the relevant authorities.
He noted that the erosion was caused by recent natural disasters, particularly heavy rainfall and flooding, rather than human activity.
“We want the Department to act immediately for the sake of public welfare, especially for the affected residents. If left unchecked, the erosion will worsen and the people will suffer,” he said.
During his visit, Yusri spoke to residents to collect detailed accounts of the situation to help ensure a prompt response.
He added that the issue would be forwarded to the relevant departments and agencies for further action to guarantee the safety and well-being of residents in the affected areas.
