“JPNS is currently collecting data on the actual extent of damage caused by the floods in Sabah and expects the process to be completed soon,” he said after the launch of the Sabah Higher Education Student Contribution Assistance Initiative (Sentosa) programme at Dewan Rafflesia, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, here, Thursday.
Raisin said the data collection process would be completed before a full report is submitted to the Ministry of Education for further action and the necessary allocation.
He said for now, JPNS was using the available allocation to undertake immediate maintenance works, while additional funds will be requested from the Ministry.
Commenting on schools frequently affected by floods, Raisin said a proposal to relocate them is being considered as a long-term measure.
He said JPNS was taking steps to identify a new site to ensure the school would no longer be affected by floods, citing Sekolah Kebangsaan Bawang in Beluran which was frequently inundated.
