Kota Kinabalu: The public is reminded that all supply orders from Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) are issued only through written notifications via official letters or emails, along with verified documents.

In a statement Wednesday, DBKK clarified that such orders are not made through personal channels such as WhatsApp, personal social media accounts or unofficial phone calls.

“DBKK has been informed of individuals impersonating and misusing the identity and positions of senior DBKK officers to place fraudulent supply orders through the WhatsApp messaging application,” the statement said.

The public is advised to verify any orders made in DBKK’s name by contacting its Corporate Management Division, Corporate Affairs Department, at 088-521800, before accepting or processing them to avoid falling victim to fraud.

DBKK stressed that it will not compromise on any acts of impersonation, fraud or misuse of the names of its officers, departments or organisation, and strict legal action will be taken against those involved.

Members of the public who suspect any attempt of fraud are urged to lodge a report with the authorities immediately.
