Kota Kinabalu: Back in 1994, Hj Johan Phoong Abdullah decided he wanted to be more than just an aircraft engineer. With just capital of RM2 he founded Layang Layang Aerospace (LLA) in Miri, Sarawak.
Today, that seed has branched into Layang Layang Aerospace, Layang Layang Flying Academy (LLFA), and Layang Layang Engineering (LLE), navigating the dark clouds of the global financial crises and the Covid-19 pandemic.
During Covid, LLG worked 24/7, facilitating emergency medical evacuations and ensuring life-saving vaccines reached the remote corners of Borneo.
Some 30 years later in 2020, Hj Johan transformed the startup into an enterprise generating over RM65 million in gross revenue and employing 200 highly skilled Malaysians across Kota Kinabalu, Miri, Kuching, Ipoh and Subang.
