Kota Kinabalu: Tun Mustapha Datu Harun’s private jet was flown halfway around the world just to pick up belacan (shrimp paste) for his wife or his special violin, according to Sabah’s first Reporter, late Datuk Mohd Fauzi Patel.
“She couldn’t stand without it in London,” he said, adding it was also possible that this was done on his behalf by aides eager to please the couple while there.
“A lot of people used the plane, giving any excuse to arrange for a trip. Mustapha’s fault (which was among issues in the elections) was tolerating all these abuses,”
Patel said, in his memoirs, “What Sabahans Should Know” on details that mattered in Sabah’s political journey but had not been officially disclosed before.
