Kota Kinabalu: A medical device manufacturer in Papar has become the first in Sabah to achieve international ISO 13485:2016 certification, reflecting a milestone for the state’s healthcare manufacturing sector.
Sanomedical AsiaPac Sdn Bhd, which operates within the Sabah Agro-Industrial Precinct (SAIP) in Kimanis, received the certification on Jan 16, positioning the facility to compete in global markets with its locally manufactured medical products.
The ISO 13485:2016 standard is recognised internationally as the benchmark for quality management systems in medical device manufacturing, focusing on risk management, sterility and clinical safety.
The company has announced plans to begin its first international shipments to Indonesia in June 2026, targeting markets in Jakarta and the wider Nusantara region.
