KENINGAU: Efforts to strengthen the identity and heritage of the Dusun Gana ethnic community topped the agenda at the 2nd Annual General Meeting of the Persatuan Gana Sabah (PGS) at the Kampung Buang Sayang Community Hall, recently.
The meeting was officiated by Keningau Tourism and Culture Association Chairman Rafie Robert, who stressed the importance of unity and teamwork among members in uplifting the status of the Dusun Gana as one of Sabah’s minority ethnic groups.
He said initiatives to preserve cultural identity, language and traditional heritage must be carried out in a structured and strategic manner to remain relevant and appreciated by present and future generations.
“Unity and collective commitment are crucial to ensure the continuity of Dusun Gana customs and culture, and careful planning with high-impact programmes can further empower the community,” he said.
Rafie also expressed his continued commitment to support activities and plans implemented by PGS for the advancement and development of the Dusun Gana community in the state, and agreed to join the association as a Life Member.
Also present were Sabah Native Customs School Director Rozie Gitang, Bundu Liwan Keningau Association Chairman Harry Gitik and Deputy Chairman of Pertubuhan Murut Naabai Sabah Fred V.
Marukau, along with association leaders, members and the local community who voiced support for PGS’s direction.
