KOTA KINABALU: Continuous heavy rain has triggered floods across northern Sabah, cutting electricity supply in dozens of villages and prompting the State Government to activate emergency response teams.
All security agencies and relevant departments have been deployed for evacuations, rescue operations and aid distribution.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the government is closely monitoring the situation to ensure swift assistance to affected residents.
In Kota Marudu, a landslide brought down a tree that struck a high-voltage transmission pole, leaving 13 villages without electricity, according to Sabah Electricity.
In Pitas, more than 30 villages are also facing power outages due to rising floodwaters, with restoration works to proceed in stages once conditions are safe.
Hajiji conveyed sympathy to victims, describing the floods as a test during the Ramadan fasting month, and urged residents in Kota Marudu, Pitas, Paitan and Sandakan to remain vigilant and follow authorities’ instructions.
