Kota Kinabalu: Parti Warisan Sepanggar Deputy Chief Norazmi Alimat said future generations must be equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to prevent the nation from being perceived merely as an extension of the 1957 independence.
He called for a major overhaul of the national education syllabus, arguing that the current curriculum lacks the depth necessary to explain the constitutional foundations and the unique federal framework upon which Malaysia was formed.
Norazmi noted that although the formation of Malaysia is taught in History classes, the coverage remains largely surface-level, focusing mainly on chronological events such as the Cobbold Commission and the Indonesian Confrontation.
