Tawau tourism players urged to boost creativity, cooperation

TAWAU: Tourism industry players here have been urged to strengthen creativity and cooperation to ensure Tawau’s tourism products are marketed more effectively.

Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the distict has no shortage of attractions and can offer strong packages for domestic and international tourists, but a lack of integrated and creative collaboration among industry players remains a key issue.

He also called on industry players to be more proactive in seizing incentives and assistance provided by the government through the ministry and related agencies, including matters involving licensing.

Jafry said the State Government, through his Ministry, will continue to empower the tourism sector through engagement sessions with industry players, government agencies and Tourism Malaysia, adding that a special task force will be formed to address accidents involving tourism transport, which affect the industry’s image.
