TAWAU: Tourism industry players here have been urged to strengthen creativity and cooperation to ensure Tawau’s tourism products are marketed more effectively.

He also called on industry players to be more proactive in seizing incentives and assistance provided by the government through the ministry and related agencies, including matters involving licensing.
Jafry said the State Government, through his Ministry, will continue to empower the tourism sector through engagement sessions with industry players, government agencies and Tourism Malaysia, adding that a special task force will be formed to address accidents involving tourism transport, which affect the industry’s image.
He said the Simanggaris-Serudong border road project funded by the Federal Government offers economic potential, and industry players should prepare by developing hotels and homestays, while issues such as waste management in Semporna and unlicensed operators will also be addressed in a similar engagement session there on Thursday.
