Woman fined RM3,500 for soliciting sexual services
She was charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to one year, or a fine, or both upon conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 42-year-old woman who offered sexual services for RM250 was fined RM3,800 or sentenced to 11 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here for soliciting a customer for the purpose of prostitution.

Norainah Kamal pleaded guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to committing the offence at about 3.30pm on Feb 3, at a massage premises in Inanam.

She was charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to one year, or a fine, or both upon conviction.

Inspector Yusdi Basri, prosecuting, said police carried out an operation at the premises after receiving information.

Investigations revealed that Norainah had offered sexual services disguised as a massage, locally known as “urut batin”, to the customer for RM250.

She was subsequently arrested.

Unrepresented, Norainah pleaded for leniency, stating that she is a single mother of four and also cares for her mother, who is also a single mother.

In a separate case, a man charged with possessing two MyKads belonging to two women will go on trial on March 9.

Akmidin Ahmidin maintained his plea of not guilty before Magistrate Wan Farrah Farriza Wan Ghazali to having the MyKads belonging to Nurtafiza Nordin and Siti Diana Abdullah on Jan 13 at 5.45pm in Asia City.

The offence, under Regulation 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 (Amendment 2007), carries a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment, a fine not exceeding RM20,000, or both, on conviction. Deputy Public Prosecutor Akaash Singh prosecuted.
