RANAU: The public has been advised not to park on both shoulders of the road in front of the Petron petrol station in town, adjacent to SK St Benedict, as it poses a risk of accidents.
The district police issued
a reminder via their Facebook page, stating that the entrance and exit routes at petrol stations are busy with vehicles stopping to refuel, and roadside parking can obstruct visibility and make it difficult for other drivers.

They said vehicles parked on both shoulders also create emergency hazards, as petrol stations involve flammable materials, and improperly parked vehicles could disrupt emergency operations if an incident occurs.
The statement added that irregular parking causes congestion, particularly during peak hours, affecting the smooth flow of traffic in the town, and stressed that legal action, including the issuance of summonses, may be taken against those who violate the regulations.
Police also advised motorists to use designated parking areas around Ranau town and to follow signs and enforcement officers’ instructions, noting that the measure aims to ensure personal safety, smooth traffic and the comfort of all road users.
