KOTA KINABALU: More than 70 leaders from government, government-linked companies (GLCs), corporate organisations and local Sabahan businesses gathered at the Sabah Young Business and Industry Leaders Network (Sybil) Chinese New Year networking event held recently in Kota Kinabalu.
The event featured an address by nominated assemblyman and Sybil vice-president Datuk Roger Chin, who spoke on leadership as a responsibility rooted in contribution rather than position.

He said leaders are shaped by the willingness to step forward, act with courage in challenging situations, volunteer, learn through action and work collectively while rejecting divisive mindsets.
Chin also stressed the need to develop young Sabahans to own businesses, lead industries and shape policies, adding that Sabah’s economic future must be built locally and not outsourced.
The gathering also highlighted upcoming initiatives, including the network’s flagship CEO Masterclass 2026 featuring Datuk Seri Idris Jala as keynote speaker, while president Datuk James Wong reaffirmed the platform’s role in strengthening government–private sector collaboration under the Sabah First principle and Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0.
