KOTA KINABALU: 17-year-old Fabian Nasip from Inanam has made a full recovery after urgent heart surgery funded by the Society for the Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF), marking the foundation’s 734th lifesaving case since 1981.
Diagnosed with chronic rheumatic heart disease at age 12, Fabian’s condition recently worsened and required immediate specialist treatment. He was referred to University Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur, admitted on Jan 23, and successfully underwent corrective surgery before being discharged on Feb 5.

SOSHF sponsored his medical costs and supported travel, accommodation, and coordination throughout treatment.
Fabian and his mother returned to Kota Kinabalu on Feb 7 and were welcomed at KKIA by SOSHF President Datuk Eva Susau and committee members.
“Every child deserves a chance to live and thrive. Fabian’s recovery reflects the power of compassion, teamwork, and community support,” said Eva.
