Kota Kinabalu: A mother donated a Vein Viewing system, model Accuvein AV500 (USA), to the Likas Hospital’s children’s ICU as a gesture of appreciation and to help other children in need.

Her twins previously received treatment at the hospital and faced difficulties during blood checks due to their fine veins, making it hard for nurses to locate them.

“As a mother, I felt distraught and saddened to see my babies being pricked several times without success. It was painful to watch them cry,” said Noorfarini binti Ag Salleh, 36.

After consulting with nurses, she learned that a special machine was urgently needed to help locate veins more accurately in babies. She personally ordered the device and gifted it to the hospital. It cost RM25,000.
