SEMPORNA: Police arrested a local suspected involved in motorcycle theft in the district.
District Police Chief, Supt Tan Hiap Wah, said on Jan 2, a man lodged a police report stating that his motorcycle, parked in front of a hotel in town, went missing and suspected stolen.
He said a team of police from the Crime Investigation Division of Semporna Police Headquarters launched an operation to track down the suspect.
“Following the operation, the team successfully apprehended a 35-year-old man on Feb 1 at Kampung Bangau-Bangau.
“The team also seized a motorcycle and a set of motorcycle’s sport rim believed related to the case,” he said.
According to Tan, further checks on the suspect found that he has six prior records including drug-related cases.
The suspect is detained under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
Tan reminds the public to be vigilant and lock their unattended vehicles.
He welcomes the public to convey any information on criminal activities to the police for immediate action.
