PAPAR: A 38-year-old lorry driver was injured after the three-tonne vehicle he was driving skidded off the road in an accident at Kampung Purak, here, last Saturday.
Papar Fire and Rescue Station chief Rozlan Osman said the incident occurred at about 6.21pm and involved a 99 Speedmart-owned lorry.
He said the Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call via 999 and dispatched eight personnel with a Fire Rescue Tender and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit to the scene, located about 12km from the station.
The rescue team arrived at 6.35pm and found the lorry had veered off the roadside, with the driver trapped in the cabin.
Firefighters used special equipment to extricate the victim.
Rozlan said the man, who sustained injuries, was given initial treatment by the EMRS team before being sent to hospital in the EMRS vehicle and the operation ended at about 7pm.
