KENINGAU: A fire completely destroyed a temporary 60x20 feet hardware storage unit at San Light Timber Hardware in Sook.
Fire and Rescue Station Chief Faisal Ahmad, said the department received the emergency call at 11.30am via the station’s hotline. He said fire engines arrived at the scene at 11.35am, approximately 2km from the station, with 13 personnel mobilised, including eight from Sook and five from Nabawan, using two fire rescue trucks.
“Firefighters used a 600-feet single hose line with two water streams supplied by fire engines and nearby hydrants to contain the blaze.
“Other agencies at the scene included two personnel each from Sabah Electricity and the Royal Malaysia Police,” he said.
The fire was brought under control at 11.50am, and operations concluded at 1.07pm after confirming there were no remaining hazards, Faisal said.
No injuries or casualties were reported, while the cause of the fire and estimated losses remain under investigation.
“The incident highlights the need for vigilance in temporary storage structures,” Faisal said.
