PAPAR: A total of 88 summonses were issued by the State Road Transport Department during a special enforcement operation targeting commercial vehicles violating traffic regulations along the Pan Borneo Highway.
The operation, which came following public complaints about lorries endangering road users, was held from Jan 20 – 23, focusing on the Papar-Bukit Manggis-Benoni stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway, including areas near Hap Seng Quarry Sdn Bhd.

The Department, in a statement, here, Friday, said the crackdown will continue on an ongoing basis.
The operation saw a total of 627 vehicles inspected over the four-day period, resulting in 59 vehicles being subject to enforcement action.
Two vehicles were also seized and RM12, 150 in compounds were collected.
The operation uncovered multiple serious violations under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334).
One overloading case has been referred to court.
Key offences detected during the operation included overloading, carrying excessively long and dangerous cargo, expired road tax, expired or invalid insurance, expired or missing driving licences, absence of Goods Driver Licence and expired vehicle inspection certificates (Puspakom).
Of the vehicles inspected, 10 were weighed to check for overloading violations.
The Department said action without compromise will be taken against operators and drivers who prioritise profit over the safety of other road users.
